Here are the events happening around campus for the week of Oct. 23.

Mon., Oct. 23

College rep visits: PUB welcome desk
Mon., Oct. 23: 11am-1pm
College representatives from Grand Canyon University and University of Washington – Bothell will be on Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Employer visit – Habitat for Humanity: PUB welcome desk
Mon., Oct. 23: 11am-1pm
Representatives from Habitat for Humanity will be on Shoreline’s campus to talk to students about employment opportunities with their organization.

Seattle GenR (IRC): PUB 9208

GenR—short for Generation Rescue—is a group of young, influential humanitarians in Seattle who have joined forces with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help people survive conflict and disaster and rebuild their lives. Inspired, informed, and influential, GenR members support the IRC through advocacy, networking and fundraising activities. Speaker: Simon Walker, President of GenR Seattle

International Transfer Fair: PUB Main Dining Room and 9208

All students are welcome to attend the Fall 2017 International Transfer Fair, with more than 100 universities participating! Come talk with representatives from UW Seattle, Seattle U, Purdue, San Jose State, several University of California campuses, the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and many more!

Get info and apply to the three-quarter I-BEST General Service Technician program to learn professional automotive maintenance and repair techniques. How To Write a Great College Application Essay workshop: Room 1104
Thurs., Oct. 26: 3:15-4:45pm
Most 4-year colleges and universities require an essay as part of the transfer application. Come to this workshop and learn:
– the role of the college application essay,
– what to write and what not to write, and
– discuss samples.
Prerequisites: English 101 must be completed or in progress.

Want to earn a Certificate, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree and don’t know how to pay for it?

Save time walking around campus or researching online by coming to the 5 Ways of Paying for College Panel. Hear from Financial Aid, Workforce Education, and Scholarship experts from Shoreline Community College as they share tips and tricks of paying for college. There will be a short presentation followed by a question and answer session.
