Mon., Feb. 5

College rep visits: Table in the PUB Lobby
Mon., Feb. 5: 11am-1pm
Representatives from Grand Canyon University and Washington Technical University will be at Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Employer of the day – Northwest Security Services: Table in the PUB Lobby
Mon., Feb. 5: 11am-1pm
Come discuss options for employment. Currently seeking full- and part-time security officers. No experience necessary. We are now interviewing for several openings in Seattle, Bellevue, Everett (P/T), Kent (P/T), Sammamish (P/T), & Puyallup (P/T).

We are thrilled to have received so many wonderful contributions of art for consideration for inclusion in Spindrift 2018. Everyone is invited to come view the work submitted and vote by ballot for their favorite works of art. Voting can be done anytime during open building hours.

Study Abroad During Political Crisis: PUB 9208

The voters of the province of Catalonia voted for independence from Spain at the end of 2017.
Shoreline English Professor, Jeannette Idiart, was there with a group of students on a quarter-long study abroad experience. And what an experience they got! Hear Professor Idiart talk about how the historical moment impacted the study abroad experience.

What Makes a Great College Admissions Essay?: Room 1104

Attend this workshop to understand the role of the college essay, process of writing, and discuss samples. Includes Dos & Don’ts and follow up resources. You will also do some writing. Prerequisite: enrollment or completion of English 101. Note: for help with your draft essay, go to The Writing and Learning Studio.

Artist Reception with Leah Gerrard: Admin Bldg (1000) art gallery

Meet the artist, Leah Gerrard, at the Artist Reception on Thurs., Feb. 8, 5-7pm. Gerrard’s show runs in the gallery Feb. 5 – March 23.

Leah Gerrard has worked with metal for twenty years. Her passion for wire was sparked by a jewelry class in Italy, and led her to explore sculpture at Linfield College.

Inspired by a fellow student’s intricate beaded wire baskets, Leah started weaving her own. After making a few beaded baskets, she found that it was the simple skeletal structure of wire that interested her. Self-taught, she experimented with various wires and different weaving techniques.
