That’s right, BREATHE is now a whole week, with the majority of activities occurring on Thurs., March 10!
Activities for the week include:

Take a break and participate in any of the BREATHE activities offered March 4-11. We have a passport system – so pick up a passport at any activity, attend at least four activities and receive a prize at Counseling Services.

Some commutes may be affected as WSDOT prepares to close SR-99 from the Battery Street Tunnel south to the West Seattle Bridge. The closure is projected to occur in March 2016, but the date may change. Please read this flier regarding the SR-99 closure for more information on how you might be affected and need to adjust your route.

“Shoreline Shorts,” the Spring one-act play festival, is holding auditions Wed., March 30 from 1-3 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre in the basement of the Ray W. Howard Library. You can sign up for a five-minute audition slot either online or on the office door of 4108, next to the Black Box. A one-minute monologue is needed for your audition.
The show runs June 8, 9, 10 & 11. Rehearsals will primarily be 2-3 times a week between 12:30-3 p.m. About 1-11 credits can be earned for participating. If you have any questions, please email tdoupe@shoreline.edu.

“Live! From the Last Night of My Life,” Campus Theater

Shoreline Community College Theater Department is proud to present Seattle based Wayne Rawley’s “Live! From the Last Night of My Life.”
Doug Sample is a man who has decided his experiment with life has, for all intents and purposes, failed. He has achieved nothing, accomplished nothing, and has nothing except his graveyard shift at a local gas station and Mini-Mart. He has decided that the best thing for everyone would be if he shot himself in the head, and he is planning to do it right in front of the Mini-Mart’s security cameras at the end of this, his last shift. But before the night is over, Doug will be visited by his past, his present, his possible futures, and some particularly annoying customers as he struggles with some of life’s most challenging questions like “Why should I go on?”, “What does it all mean?”, and perhaps most importantly, “Did I remember to change the cherry syrup in the Slushie Machine?”
Written by Wayne Rawley and directed by Debra Pralle.

The Shoreline Community College Associated Student Government (ASG) is hiring for the 2016-2017 school year!
There are ten positions available: two will be elected and eight will be selected through a hiring process. These positions will start work in July and will work up to 17 hours per week and be paid $11.11 per hour. All applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on March 18, 2016.
If interested, you may apply for up to one elected position and/or two hired positions.

Commencement time is coming!
Attention graduating Spring and Summer students: submit your Application for Degree to Enrollment Services on the second floor of the 5000 (FOSS) building no later than Fri., April 15. Applications for Summer quarter graduating students NOT participating in the June 5 ceremony should be submitted by Fri., July 15.
Also, all planning sheets for professional/technical programs need to be filled out completely, signed by both the program Advisor and Division Dean and submitted with the Application for Degree or Certificate to Enrollment Services.

Mexico’s Development and Priorities, PUB 9208

Mexico shares a 2,000-mile border with the U.S. and bilateral relations between the two have a direct impact on the lives and livelihoods of millions of people in both countries. The scope of the relationship is broad and entails extensive commercial, cultural, environmental and educational ties.
The level of cooperation reached on various issues during the last 20 years, in particular, is unprecedented. However, Mexico and the U.S. also have distinct foci or views depending on events or regions. Especially when it comes to relations with other countries in Latin America in particular, and developing countries in general, Mexico often has a different response to issues.
In 2013, Mexico was elected to a three-year tour on the UN Human Rights Council. Mexico is a member of the Australia Group, an informal forum of countries which, through the harmonization of export controls, seeks to ensure that exports do not contribute to the development of chemical or biological weapons.

On Fri., March 4 from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. swing by the PUB Quiet Dining Room to check out an activity session and presentation by students in the Anthropology of Social and Cultural Change class.
The activity session runs from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and focuses on treating mental health and is geared toward college students. Students and staff are invited to come participate in artistic activities and learn about the benefits of using art therapy to combat mental health issues.
The presentation focuses on humanizing people who are homeless or on the poverty line. Students will display and share the stories from some homeless people who were interviewed for the project, and will also share facts vs myths about homelessness to raise awareness. The homelessness project will be on display from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be snacks, and all students and staff are welcome. There will be also be a donation box set up inside the room that benefits the people interviewed for the project. Please consider donating any items such as clothes, sleeping bags, grooming utensils, and food.
