Let Your Voice Be Heard – Provide Input On Shoreline’s Community Standard Statement

Shoreline is developing a community standard statement to communicate the values that we as a campus community pledge to uphold. We have a draft of that statement ready, and we’d like your feedback on it. Please read the draft of the statement online here and then take the very brief survey below it. The survey closes Oct. 9, with a finalized statement expected later in fall quarter.

Your input is necessary to creating a campus environment that is comfortable and inclusive to everyone. We thank you for your time and help – it’s greatly appreciated!

Intramural Volleyball Starts Wed., Oct. 7

Hey Shoreline students – did you know we have FREE intramurals on campus for students, staff and faculty to enjoy?! Well, we do! And starting Wed., Oct. 7 we’re adding volleyball to the list of fun activities in which you can partake.

Starting Oct. 7, join us in the main gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for intramural volleyball – what a perfect way to get in a little fun and exercise between classes!

Campus Printing Fees Raised to 4 Cents Per Page

Starting this Fall 2015, the fee for black and white printing is now 4 cents per page. The small fee increase was OK’d by the Shoreline Community College Student Government and applies to all student printing campus-wide but does not affect color printing, which is still at 50 cents per page.

For help understanding how to go about using the printing services on campus, the folks in the library and in the student computer lab are happy to help!

Bloodworks Northwest On-Campus Blood Drive Tues., Sept. 29

Due to the tragic accident that happened on the Aurora Bridge last Thursday, multiple hospitals requested additional blood components from Bloodworks Northwest. Although they had an outpouring of donors at blood centers and blood drives over the weekend to donate blood, Bloodworks Northwest is still trying to replenish their blood inventory and prep for any unforeseen accidents that may happen in the future.

Please consider donating during the Shoreline Community College Blood Drive happening in the PUB Quiet Dining Room (9208) on Tues., Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m.).

Counseling Services Offers Success Series

Counseling Services is partnering with several campus departments, including the Women’s Center and The Learning & Writing Studio, to bring an array of learning opportunities to our campus community! Students, staff and faculty are all encouraged to attend, and can all benefit from the topics covered.

Lancer Food Service Hours for Fall Quarter

New to Shoreline Community College? Then you might not know our food service is provided by Lancer Catering, which = yummy! Food service will open on campus on the first day of classes, Wed., Sept. 23. There are several spots around campus where you can get your nosh on – here’s when (and where) to go:

Reminder: It’s Time to Party Like it’s 1965 with Free Food + Music!

Shoreline Community College started coming to life in 1963 when 806 student applications were accepted. In January of 1964, classes began, held in the evenings at Shoreline High School, now Shoreline Center. But it wasn’t until 1965 that Shoreline had its own campus. 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Shoreline Community College campus and the beginning of instruction in college facilities. So what does that mean? Par-tay!

Join us Fri., Sept. 25 to party like it’s 1965. The festivities will kick off in the PUB Main Dining room at 6 p.m. with a series of speakers. Live music will begin at 7 and go until 10. Come enjoy fun, food and popular 60s fads on this evening of celebrating our campus and its thriving community on its 50 birthday. Free and open to the public.
