Join us in FOSS 5116 from 1-2:30 p.m for this week’s Job Seekers’ Roundtable exploring home-based business opportunities. From Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, to ad agencies, marketing firms and everywhere in between, there really are plenty of home-based job and start up business opportunities.
Author, blogger, and podcaster, Ariele Huff will present: “Time and Place for Work at Home.” Home businesses are growing fast. According to Shoreline Director of Business Development, Dan Eernissee, close to 2,000 home business licenses were issued just in 2014. If your eventual goal is to gain income from home, this Roundtable is not to be missed!

Getting to Shoreline Community College could take just a wee bit longer over the next few weeks.
A State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) spokesman says there will be “a small construction project” on N. 160th from Dayton Ave. to Aurora Ave. (see map) that will begin May 26 and is anticipated to run through mid-June.
Finals, by the way, start on June 10 and run through June 12.
According to WSDOT, there will be single-lane closures in both directions during day-time hours that may cause delays. The westbound right lane will also be closed overnight for a single night at some point during the project. Most of the work for the project will be in the westbound lane, which leads to the college.
Finals or not, this might not be the time to cut it close on the commute time.

Join the college community in conversation about Coming of Age in Mississippi, an extraordinary personal memoir of a young black woman growing up in the segregated South and joining the struggle by blacks for voting rights.
This Wednesday’s meeting will cover chapters 23-26 and will take place in the PUB room 9202 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Marked for death by the Ku Klux Klan, Anne Moody survived to tell a story that resonates with today’s headlines about racial tensions and the targeting of African Americans by a white society.
**Free copies of Coming of Age in Mississippi are available only for students and classified staff who register to participate in the Community Read.
