Virtual Ceremony
At 10:00 a.m. PDT on June 19, you can login to this page via MarchingOrder to livestream the ceremony. Although the page won’t be fully accessible until the day of the event, we recommend acquainting yourself with it ahead of time so you can join in confidence. Captions will be included and a recorded copy of the ceremony will be provided to all graduates after the event.
You can also let friends and families know they will be able to find the livestream link on Saturday at www.shoreline.edu/commencement!
Drive-Thru Celebration
Did you know you still have until the end of Monday, June 14 to RSVP for our drive-thru celebration? Those of you who are able to attend between 1-3 p.m. can pick up your grad packs, Shoreline swag, and celebrate safely from the comfort of your vehicles. Along with many Shoreline faculty and staff, we’re so excited to cheer you on!
Memorialize the Day with Downloaded Content
Navigate to the “Commencement Graphics” tab on the Commencement page to download social media graphics and a printable yard/window sign. A printable event program (with a full list of graduate names) will also be added to the website a day before the ceremony. Be sure to show off your Phin Nation pride by sharing photos of your special day using the hashtag #ShorelineGrad2021.

The Shoreline Community College Commencement Committee
We are pleased to share that the new Health Sciences & Advanced Manufacturing Classroom Complex (HSAMCC) will break ground in just a few weeks! This project is a culmination of years of planning and extensive stakeholder involvement and will be a significant enhancement to our campus. As we enter the construction period for the next two years, here is some preliminary information for you to know.
What Is the HSAMCC?
A new three-story, 50,700 square-foot HSAMCC building will replace five existing buildings (2400, 2500, 2600, 2700, 2800) and will be located on the footprint of the current 2500 Building. Opening in summer 2023, it will provide space for Chemistry, Biology, Medical Lab Technology, Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, and Biomanufacturing. It will include an open space that preserves existing significant trees and landscape features and provides outdoor student gathering areas. This building will serve a large student population with state-of-the-industry, multipurpose instructional space (including collaboration and study spaces, laboratories, and faculty offices) and create a new core area of campus that will unite the South end of campus with the North.
When Will Construction Take Place?
July 2021 – Construction fencing and mobilization begins at North end of campus
July & August 2021 – Demolition Phase One (Buildings 2500, part of 2400, greenhouse, pond)
Summer 2021 – Groundbreaking event
August 2021 – March 2023 – Active construction
Summer 2022 – Demolition of a portion of Greenwood Parking Lot for an infiltration pond
Spring 2023 – Building move in
Spring & Summer 2023 – Demolition Phase Two (Buildings 2600, 2700, 2800, rest of 2400)
Summer/Fall 2023 – Project completion

Will Campus Access or Parking Be Affected by the Construction?
A sizable portion of the parking lot North of Building 2500 will be fenced off for the duration of the project and will not be available for general use, however, parking options throughout the rest of the campus will remain unaffected.
The track will be used as parking for Automotive instructional vehicles and will not be accessible.
Walking routes through campus will remain open and access to the Shoreview Off-Leash Dog Park next to campus will continue to be available.
Construction vehicles will access the campus via Aurora Avenue and N. 160th Street and be routed to enter campus at the West gate, traveling to the construction site at the North end of campus, and exiting on the East side of campus at Greenwood Avenue.
Construction work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cameras will be installed for security.

This is an exciting time of growth on our campus, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we enter this period of construction. We will continue to share regular updates with the campus community and our local neighbors as construction progresses.
As the current academic year nears an end and we marked the one-year anniversary of our shift to remote learning and operations due to COVID-19, I want to share what the next six months will look like on our campus.
The College remains under the guidance of the Higher Education Reopening plan, which has been in place since spring 2020 (and is separate from the Healthy Washington planother organizations follow). The Governor may update the Higher Education plan with new guidance for the 2021-22 academic year, but until then, Shoreline continues to adhere to the same guidance we have been following all year.
Summer Campus Status
As previously announced, the College is continuing predominantly remote learning and operations through summer quarter (through August 24, 2021), with some additional hybrid classes added to allow for some additional in-person learning opportunities.
FallCampus Status
Based on current public health data and results from our campus surveys, up to 25% of Shoreline’sfall quarter classeswillhaveanin-personcomponent. The rest of our classes will remain online, as will most of our operations (through December 16, 2021). We may increase the availability of some on-campus support services, and we will share these updates as they become available. Curbside pickup/drop-off service will remain available.
Three course formats will be offered in fall to better meet students’ learning goals:
Online –Fully online class with no scheduled meeting date/time
Live Online – Fully online class with scheduled virtual meeting dates/times
Hybrid – A combination of traditional in-person and online instruction
On-Campus Safety Procedures
Mask wearing, social distancing, and cleaning practices continue for all on-campus activities. Hybrid class sizes have been adjusted to ensure appropriate social distancing and safety protocols. The College is following Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) guidelines regarding appropriate building air filtration.
Students must do the following when coming to campus:
Wear a mask at all times on campus, regardless of vaccination status
Fill out a Campus Access Form to check in and out of campus each day they are on campus
Stay home if they are feeling sick
Follow any specific class safety practices communicated at the start of the quarter
Employees coming to campus must continue to follow the practices described on the COVID-19 faculty/staff page.
Vaccination Requirements
COVID-19 vaccinations are not currently required at Shoreline, but it is possible state higher education guidance could change in the future. The College strongly recommends all students and employees get a vaccine if they have not already. Find a vaccine location near you.
While there is so much hope on the horizon, we know caution and safety is still paramount when it comes to successfully preparing for the gradual reopening of the College campus. As we remain vigilant, we also look forward to welcoming more students and employees on our beautiful campus this fall.

More than 20 classes – such as Biology, Drama, Math, Music, and PE – will meet on campus in safe, distanced classrooms (masks required) once or twice a week, with assignments completed online.
Hybrid courses offer the convenience of online learning with the satisfaction of some in-person instruction.
Go hybrid this summer and get the best of both worlds! Classes start June 28.
All 2021 Shoreline graduates are invited to participate in the first-ever Drive-Thru Graduation Celebration on Saturday, June 19 from 1-3 p.m. on campus.
Graduates will have the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with members of the college community and can bring one (1) vehicle with family and friends to join them on the drive-thru route through the campus parking lots. Anyone who does not have access to a vehicle will be able to participate by riding in the College shuttle.

The Shoreline Community College will be re-opening its’ campus garden during summer/fall 2021. The garden includes perennial and annual plants, fruit bushes, and raised garden beds.
Any students, faculty, or staff who are interested in getting involved with the campus garden are invited to complete a brief interest survey at bit.ly… to find out about upcoming opportunities.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the State of Washington recently shared updated guidance regarding fully vaccinated individuals not being required to wear masks in most indoor or outdoor spaces. I would like to clarify that this guidance does not apply to colleges and universities, which follow the requirements of the Higher Education Re-Opening Plan.
Shoreline Community College will continue to follow the appropriate guidance for higher education, which at this time, includes mask wearing and six-foot distancing for any in-person activities. The approval process to come to campus remains in place, along with the use of the Campus Access Form. Should this guidance be updated at any point, we will share more information with the campus community.
