Advisors Out & About: Library

Registration for spring quarter classes for current students begins the week of March 5-9. Advisors will be out and about to talk with students about finding their specific registration date, majors, degree plans, degree audits, and course selection.
College Rep Visit: Table in PUB Lobby
Mon., Feb. 26: 11am-1pm
College representatives from University of Washington-Seattle will be at Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.
Employer of the Day: Table in PUB Lobby
Mon., Feb. 26: 11am-1pm
A representative from Customs & Border Protection will be on campus to discuss exciting employment opportunities for students and graduates!

“From the Ashes” Panel Discussion: Room 2201
Mon., Feb. 26: 12:30-2:30pm
Multi-disciplinary Discussion: Professors from a variety of disciplines will help facilitate a discussion of the film, From the Ashes, and its issues. Professors from Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Geology, Economics, (and more) will help provide different vantage points and ask questions unique to their discipline. Attendees are encouraged to view the film ahead of time by streaming it.

Each quarter Student Life hosts 2-3 United Club Council meetings for club representatives. These meetings include important reminders from Student Life, club announcements, and time for clubs to network with each other. Each club is required to send at least one representative and all club members, leaders, and advisors are welcome to join.

Want a better job or considering a career change? Get hands-on advice from a panel of career and training experts for getting the job you want and the training to succeed. Gain tips on career exploration, overcoming obstacles, and funding your training.
This interactive panel from Shoreline Community College will help you get started to achieve your next goals. Join us out in the neighborhood at the King County Library, Shoreline branch. The Shoreline Public Library is at 345 NE 175th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155.

The Tragedy of North Korea: PUB 9208

North Korea’s continued development of nuclear weapons, along with the tragic death of an American student who arrived in Pyongyang fit and left in a mysterious coma, is likely to dim further prospects of improved relations between North Korea and the U.S. What can be done to improve the situation? Is a military confrontation on the horizon? Come hear speaker Clark Sorenson, Professor of International Studies at Jackson School of International Studies, lend expert opinion on the matter.

The Student Afternoon Recital is considered to be a “talent showcase” for our dedicated music students at Shoreline Community College. This is their time to shine in the spotlight and have an opportunity to perform in front of their peers. Students are chosen by their private music instructors to perform at the recital.
This is an invaluable experience for students to build confidence musically through focused preparation, and the opportunity to perform in front of an audience helps them develop their stage presence. Everyone is welcome to attend this free concert in the Music Building in Room #818.

Parent Map Summer Camp Fair: PUB Main Dining Room

Explore dozens of ideas for summer fun at Camp Fair, a FREE, family-friendly (kids welcome!) annual event in Shoreline. Camp Fair brings together camps, schools, and summer activity centers from all across Puget Sound and beyond for preschoolers to teens.

Shoreline Short Short Film Festival: Campus Theater (1600 Bldg)
Sat., March 3: 7-10pm
Filmmakers from across Washington have submitted their “short short” films and you’re invited to see the best of the best during the 2018 Shoreline Short Short Film Festival in the state-of-the-art Shoreline Community College Theater. Doors open at 6pm for drinks, snacks, and schmoozing.
The evening will showcase a juried selection of 3- to 10-minute films made by emerging and developing filmmakers working in our community. The top filmmakers will be honored with impressive Golden Sasquatch statues and other prizes, and you can vote for your favorite filmmaker to win the Viewer’s Choice Award! Other categories include Best in Show, Best Comedy, and Best Student Film.
Tickets are $20, parking is free, and popcorn, candy, soda, wine, and beer will be available for purchase. Don’t miss your opportunity to support up-and-coming filmmakers during this fun community event!
This event is presented with support from Shoreline Community College, the City of Shoreline, City of Lake Forest Park, 4Culture, and individual donations from people like you.

Caffè Musica presents an evening Aperitivo and Live Music featuring great music performed by Shoreline Community College music faculty and students. This open jam will feature instrumentalists and vocalists.
