Dear Students and Colleagues,

I sincerely invite all of you to take part in a brief survey organized by the Associated Student Government. In this survey, we are gathering information about two keys topics of interest – views on tobacco and secondhand smoke on campus, and views on potential shuttle bus service extension.

The survey will take about 3 – 5 minutes to complete, and the information you provide will prove essential in keeping Shoreline an excellent place for learning. This survey will be open April 12 – May 1.

Click here to start the survey.

If you have questions about the survey, please contact Winston Lee at StudentPresident@shoreline.edu.

Thank you for your time!

Winston Lee
Associated Student Government President

Join Student Life for the “From Margin to Center” program series with this training that will provide strategies to intervene in hostile/violent contexts. Wed., April 12 1:30-3 p.m. in the PUB 9208.

Tolu Taiwo and Luke Ruiz bring this training to talk about ways to be active bystanders while considering positionality and identities. This training prepares each member of the Shoreline Community College community to be active bystanders and look out for one another in order to create a safer community for all. We care about our friends – this presentation provides an overview of warning signs and skills for response when they are at risk.

Tolu Taiwo and Luke Ruiz both work at Pacific Lutheran University. Tolu serves as the Prevention and Outreach Coordinator for the Center for Gender Equity at Pacific Lutheran University, has served in an array of roles advocating for those in marginalized communities, and was recently selected as a faculty member at NASPA’s Dungy Leadership Institute. Luke Ruiz is a Resident Director for two upper division residential communities and his work crosses over with a number of offices, especially the Center for Gender Equity, where he has been involved in Active Bystander Training for the past couple of years and strongly believes in speaking up and out against injustices in our society.

See the full Margin to Center programming schedule.

Did you know there’s a student advocate on campus? The student advocate is a student representative with the additional duty of supporting all students with their grievances by making sure they have a voice by speaking out for them and directing them to helpful campus resources. She/he assists the ASG Social Justice officer and strictly adheres to FERPA and Title IX regulations.

If you have questions or want to request a meeting with the Student Advocate, please contact Winston Lee at StudentPresident@shoreline.edu or Student Advocate Khalee Kiazolu at StudentRep2@shoreline.edu.

Thank you for your time!

Make a book donation to the Books to Prisoners Book Drive today! Books to Prisoners is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization whose mission it is to foster a love of reading behind bars, encourage the pursuit of knowledge and self-empowerment, and break the cycle of recidivism. The most popular requests are dictionaries, thesauruses, African American history, and fiction. Books to Prisoners relies on books donated by community members to answer these requests, so please make a book donation this quarter to help a few of the thousands of individuals who request books each year. Book drop-offs are located in the Library 4000 Building (near the main entrance) and the PUB 9000 Building (across from the front entrance). Donations are being accepted now through March 20.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

Please check out our Student Fees and Campus Committees web page on the Student Life website. This includes general information about the four fees overseen by the Associated Student Government and the student and campus committees.

The button on the far right also links to a list of which ASG members will be serving on each committee this year.

We hope to increase our transparency by helping students and employees understand what fees and committees we have and which ASG members are representing students in these groups.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact ASG President, Winston Lee, at StudentPresident@shoreline.edu.

Thank you,

Winston Lee, ASG President
