Come hear music students perform FREE shows Fri., Dec. 8 & Mon., Dec. 11

It’s the end of the quarter, which means several music classes are holding their end-of-quarter shows. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend these FREE music performances by our very talented students:

Fri., Dec. 8

Small Ensemble Recital: Music Bldg (800), Rm 818
Fri., Dec. 8: 12:30-1:30pm
The Small Ensemble Recital is considered to be a “talent showcase” for our dedicated music students at Shoreline Community College. This is their time to shine in the spotlight and to have an opportunity to perform in front of their peers. Students are chosen by their instructors to perform at the recitals, and the criteria require students to have been involved in a music ensemble throughout the quarter. This is an invaluable experience for our students to build confidence musically through focused preparation, and the opportunity to perform in front of an audience helps them develop their stage presence.

Piano Juries: Music Bldg (800), Rm 818
Fri., Dec. 8: 2:30-4:30pm
Piano students taking private instruction lessons perform a solo piece for the music faculty and their musical peers as a final exam.

Mon., Dec. 11

Instrumental Juries: Music Bldg (800), Rm 818
Mon., Dec. 11: 10:30am-12pm
Instrumental music students taking private instruction lessons perform a solo piece they’ve been working very hard to prepare to present in front of a jury of Music Faculty as their final exam. Students hope to receive an Outstanding Performance or Honorary Performance acknowledgment. Outstanding Performance students will later perform their winning piece at an Honors Recital.

Vocal Juries: Main Campus Theater (1600 Bldg)
Mon., Dec. 11: 12:30-2:30pm
Students taking private vocal lessons have been working hard all quarter to prepare for this event. They will perform a selected piece before a jury of vocal instructors who will evaluate their performance. Students hope to receive an Outstanding Performance or Honorary Performance acknowledgment. Outstanding Performance students will later perform their winning piece at an Honors Recital.

Class Voice Recital: Music Bldg (800), Rm 818
Mon., Dec. 11: 7-9pm
This is the final performance for the quarter for students registered for Voice Classes. The students choose a solo of their choice for the performance. The music selections for the recital are from present-day composers to Early Baroque pieces. There will also be small vocal ensembles performing. For some of our students, this will be their very first experience singing in front of an audience. They’ve been working hard to develop their stage presence, as well as their vocal skills. Performers are always energized by appearing in front of an audience, so we hope to fill the room with supportive faces!
