The jurors in the Derek Chauvin trial are expected to release their verdict today regarding the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. A spectrum of high emotions has surrounded the tragic killing of Floyd since last summer and we know emotions will continue to run high once the verdict is announced in the courts. Whatever the outcome of this trial, we also know that the pursuit of racial justice and conversations around the role of police in society will continue.
I would like to continue to encourage members of our campus community to seek out support from others, including our resources at the Counseling Center.
