Shoreline Dolphins’ Volleyball team had a lot to celebrate on Wednesday night. It was the last home game of the year and the last time the Dolphins faithful would get a chance to watch Sophomores Malia Parilla, Anya Golubitskikh, Quinn Walker, A’Laisia Redden, and Kristina Nielsen play in The Tank. The Phins had already clinched their spot in the NWAC tourney and were now looking to secure the #1 seed out of the North Region.

Shoreline hosted the second place Skagit Valley Cardinals. Skagit, just a game behind the Phins coming into the match, came out on fire taking the first set 25-19. Shoreline regrouped and was able to take a close second set 26-24. The Phins seemed to take control of the match with a 25-18 third set victory, but Skagit Valley continued the back and forth nature of the match with a 25-19 victory in the 4th set. This set up a 5th and final set with the first team to 15 points getting a win. Shoreline had a small lead at 8-6 as the tams switched sides of the court to finish the match. The wildest point in the 5th set came when Taylor Alexander used her foot to knock the ball over the net leading to an eventual Golubitskikh kill and a 14-12 lead. Josephine Dalrymple put the finishing touches on the win with an emphatic kill as the large Phins crowd rushed the floor.

The best news of the night came a few minutes after the conclusion of the match as word came in that Bellevue lost their match at Olympic. This combined with the Phins’ win moved Shoreline into sole possession of first place in the North Region and guaranteed at least a share of the Region championship. If the Phins win in their next match on Tuesday, November 10 at Edmonds Community College they will take the North Region all to themselves. Come on out to the game at Edmonds at 7 p.m. and support your 1st place Phins!

The game is at the Seaview Gym on the Edmonds Community College campus at 20000 68th Ave. W in Lynnwood. Find directions to campus here.

A campus map can be found here – the gym is #16.
