Several Shoreline Community College vocal music students were recently awarded top prizes at the Puget Sound Student Adjudications of the National Association of Teachers of Singing: Puget Sound region. The competition was held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Seattle Pacific University.
- Trevor Eaden received First Place in the lower college men’s division. This is the second time he has received this award while studying voice with Fred Lokken.
- In the lower college women’s division, Clara Todd was awarded First Place, Kehla Grow was awarded Second Place, and Kia Burt received Honorable Mention. All three students are studying voice with Meg Stecker-Thorsen.
- Gloria Tzuang received Honorable Mention in the Classical Avocational 2 division. She is also studying voice with Meg Stecker-Thorsen.
Trevor and Clara received a cash prize for their accomplishment and, along with Kehla Grow, they have the opportunity to compete in the regional adjudications taking place next quarter. This marks the fourth year in a row, and the fifth out of the past six years, that one or more Shoreline Community College students received First Place awards in their respective categories. Congratulations to our awarded students and to all of the Shoreline Community College participants.

All classes on Wed., Nov. 22 will be held per usual, including evening classes. The library, safety and security, Parent-Child Center, and dental hygiene clinic will also maintain regular operating hours that day.
All other college services and offices will close at 4:30pm (as on Fridays). Extended Wednesday hours will not apply that day.
Campus and college services will remain closed Thurs., Nov. 23 and Fri., Nov. 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, and will return to normal operating hours on Mon., Nov. 27.

Shoreline Community College T-TEN Program is partnering with the Marine Corps Reserve to collect donations to Toys for Tots. Between now and Thurs., Nov. 30, please bring unwrapped toys you’d like to donate to one of two collection boxes on campus: one located on the main floor of the PUB (9000) building and one housed on the main floor of the FOSS (5000) building. All Toys for Tots donations from Shoreline will be gathered by Thurs., Nov. 30 and taken to the Northwest Toy Run event held at Pacific Raceways in Kent on Sun., Dec. 3.
Please join us and other car enthusiasts at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA on Sun., Dec. 3 from 8am-2pm for a fun day of car shows and gathering Toys for Tots!

Join Project PRIDE as we honor our fallen family. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Mon., Nov. 20, 12:30p.m. in the PUB Lobby.

College representatives from Brandman University and University of Washington-Seattle will be on Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Shoreline Community College is proposing revisions to Chapter 132G-276-090 of the Washington Administrative Code regarding public records in compliance with Executive House Bill 1595 which passed in July 2017. The revised language being proposed allows the College to comply with new requirements related to using a default copy fee and/or waiving costs associated with producing records as a result of a public records request. The revised language in this section has gone through a process to incorporate input from both the Strategic Plan and Budget Committee and the College’s Executive Team.
In compliance with RCW 34.05.320, the College is providing an opportunity for comments on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Quiet Dining Room of the PUB. Alternately, comments related to this rule revision may be submitted to sccrulemaking@shoreline.edu on or before December 5, 2017.
