CALL FOR ENTRIES: 2024 Shoreline Short Short Film Festival
Deadline: February 13, 2024
Calling all filmmakers! The Shoreline Short Short Film Festival (SSSFF) invites filmmakers to submit works for our 8th annual celebration of filmmaking in Washington State. All genres are accepted. Films must be between 3 and 13 minutes in length and made, at least substantially, in Washington State to be eligible.

Application fees: $10 for student submissions and $15 for all other films. Filmmakers may only submit one film. To be eligible, films must have been completed after December 1, 2022.
The Shoreline Short Short Film Festival takes place on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Shoreline Community College Theater. The Festival is presented in partnership with the Shoreline Film Office and the Shoreline Community College Film, Drama, & Cinema Department.
Best Picture and People’s Choice winners each receive a $1,000 cash prize, the Sasquatch award, and additional publicity. All films chosen for the Festival are promoted via the ShoreLake Arts website and social media.

The SCC ART Gallery is currently accepting student submissions for the upcoming Student Juried Art Exhibition!
Interested parties should email Gallery Director, Zach Mazur (zmazur@shoreline.edu) by Jan 17, 2024 with the following information:
- Quality photographs of 3-5 works of art
- Descriptions of each artwork submitted (title, date, media, dimensions)
- Method of display (i.e. standing, wall-mounted, digital display, etc.)
- A brief artist statement (optional)
Works selected for exhibition must be mounted or framed and ready for display. Prizes will be awarded!
Submissions are due by Jan 17, 2024! Selected artwork to be dropped off by Jan 29 in room 2059.

As part of the art exhibition, “Go Home: by Parisa Ghaderi”,Ghaderi’s artwork is profoundly influenced by the urgent concerns of immigration and the impact of borders, serving to navigate the intricate complexities of these issue.

Creator, storyteller, educator… the artwork and performances of Shoreline Professor Parisa Ghaderi transcends diverse mediums and disciplines. Having lived in both Iran and the United States, Ghaderi has experienced a unique state of existence- constantly straddling two worlds without fully belonging to either. Adapted from Madeleine LEngles much-loved classic tale, one of literature’s most enduring young heroines, Meg Murry, is back–braces, stubbornness and all. Joining forces with her baby brother Charles Wallace, friend and neighbor Calvin O’Keefe, and the celestial beings Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, she must battle the forces of evil in order to rescue her father, save humanity, and discover herself. Traveling through time and space, Meg must save both her father and the world from IT, an evil force that is rapidly casting its shadow over the universe. But what does Meg have that the IT does not? Love. For in the end, love is enough to overcome evil and bring ITs dark world crashing down.

Come Audition for “The Crucible”
Directed by Duygu Monson
‘The Crucible‘ by Arthur Miller is a classic play set during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. The play follows the townspeople as hysteria and paranoia slowly spread, ultimately leading to the trial and execution of innocent people accused of witchcraft. It is a powerful story of individual conscience in the face of oppressive authority and public hysteria, as well as a lesson in the consequences of intolerance. As an allegory for McCarthyism, it serves as an important reminder of the dangers of prejudice and mass hysteria.

Mary Oliver is one of America’s premier nature poets. She spent a lifetime deeply considering such topics as presence, life, loss, grace, silence, and longing – and celebrate the beauty, transformation, the wonder of nature. This 4 week class is an introduction to Mary Oliver’s expressive writing in her book “Devotions” .
Robert Stahl has been teaching Continuing Education classes at Shoreline and Seattle-area colleges for several decades. He has previously taught poetry classes on Mary Oliver, Emily Dickinson, Rilke, Rumi, & Haiku poetry. He’s also taught courses on Buddhism, Taoism, & Zen.
