Hello Campus Community,

Update 1: Roof Work

Our recent roof project got off track due to the ice and the need to do more repairs to the roof at 2900 building.  Due to these delays, the 2900 building is still in process and the timeline for 3000, 4000, and 1600 has shifted.  Here is the new schedule starting next week.

  • 3/21/25
    • 2900 roof gravel replacement and perimeter work will be completed by Friday, 3/21.  Contractor will be removing their equipment from that area.  Parking in front of that building will be open starting Monday, 3/24.
  • 3/24/25 – 4/1/25
    • 3000 soffit stain work – Contractor will be using a lift and scaffold to apply a stain to the soffit around the building.  They will start spraying on the south side starting Tuesday, 3/25.  No vehicles can be parked in the motorcycle parking stalls on the north side and the parking stalls on the east side of 3000 when they start to apply the stain.  Security will close off the parking in these areas starting Tuesday.  Parking should be back open on Monday, 3/31.
  • 3/24/25 – 4/4/25
    • 4000 skylight replacement – Contractor will remove existing skylight and replace with new.  There will be noise and chemical smells during this project.  To minimize the impact of dust/sawdust falling within the library, a section inside the 2nd floor will be closed starting Monday, 3/24.
  • 4/1/25/25 – 4/8/25
    • 1600 PMMA and drain replacement – Contractor will be replacing the roof drainage system.  This will require interior and exterior work.  There will be slight noise and chemical smell.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Update 2: Bridge Repair

We will be starting our pedestrian bridge repair project at building 3000 next week.  The purpose of this project is to reseal the top deck of the pedestrian bridge, resurface and fill in the cracks on the pedestrian ramp, and repair/seal the concrete underneath the pedestrian bridge.  The project schedule will run from 3/24/25 to 6/5/25.

3/24/25-4/4/25 – Contractor will start with the top of pedestrian bridge.  The bridge will be closed in sections to allow for access.  The Contractor will also be closing the ramp at 3000 to resurface and fill in the cracks.  SDS for the sealant will soon follow.

4/21/25 – 5/16/25 – Contractor will be working underneath the 3000 pedestrian bridge to seal/repair the concrete.  There will be access to 3000 underneath the bridge.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Kim Clark

Hello Campus Community,

Bayley Construction will be temporarily moving the fence line for the Bracken project to accommodate the crane.  The accessibility path to 6000 will be shifted to the ramp and walk path on the west side of 2900. The map below outlines the new fence line and accessibility path.   Please reach out if there are any questions.

Thank you for your patience during construction.

Hello Campus Community,

As part of the construction schedule for the Bracken building (STEAM), the contractor will need to prep the site by removing some trees.  Starting Friday, 6/7, we’ll have the project arborist onsite to assess the trees for this project.  Bayley, the contractor, will start removal and protection of trees next week (6/10).  There will be large equipment and loud noise on the northwest side of campus during this time.  Below is a map that indicates which trees will be removed, what trees will be protected, and how many trees we will be adding back upon completion.  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Kimberlee Clark

Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to inform you that the lounge furniture on the main floor of the PUB will be removed for reupholstering and repair starting Monday May 27, 2024. This exciting update is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the comfort and aesthetic of our shared spaces.  We expect the furniture to be returned right before commencement, looking better than ever!  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but will be putting a couple of temporary tables and chairs there in the interim.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this period. We are confident that the updated furniture will greatly enhance the student experience.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Kim Clark

Hello Campus Community,

We are getting close to starting our STEAM (Bracken) building project.  Bayley, our contractor, has provided a schedule for the next few months.  A few tasks to highlight will be the construction of a new ramp from 2300, Abatement of 2200, Demoing of 2200, and tree removal around the new STEAM site.

Each of these tasks will result in noisy work and dust.  Below is the fence plan which highlights where they will place their construction fencing around campus.  As part of the fencing, Bayley will be constructing a new ramp on the west side of 1800 for access to 1800 building from the west parking lots.

This is a black and white map showing where the fences will be for the Bracken building construction

Also below is the logistics plan which indicates where the construction trailers will be placed, what parking areas will be fenced off for use by the contractor, where flaggers will be placed, and how trucks will move around campus and access the construction zone.

This is a colorful diagram showing where different construction aspects of the Bracken building will be.

The fire lane in between 1800 and 1700 buildings will be used as a pass through for the construction site.  This fire lane will remain open for pedestrian use and access to the accessibility parking on the west side of the 4000 building.

More information to follow as the project team and Bayley start our weekly construction meetings, and more information is provided.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
