The President has tasked a group of your peers to review the current bookstore model and course materials access at Shoreline CC and the working group needs your input! Please take a few minutes (estimated time < 5 mins) to fill out this anonymous College Bookstore Faculty and Staff survey. Your feedback is essential for the working group’s recommendations about whether to renew the current contract, modify the contract, contract with a different company, or consider other options for the bookstore and course materials access at Shoreline CC. Beginning January 16, 2024, the English department is replacing the current Directed Self-Placement tool with an updated Informed Self-Placement questionnaire.
All other placement tools, such as transcripts, Smarter Balanced test scores, and Bridge to College English grades, etc., will remain as the primary placement methods for English courses, but for students who need an additional option, there will now be an updated ISP tool.
National research and data from our Washington state community college partners demonstrate that Informed Self-Placement tools that provide students with information and agency to select their first English course based on their previous experience and knowledge results in higher success rates and retention.
The new ISP tool includes:
- Updated contact information for campus programs
- Updated course information to include English 110, the new English co-requisite course
- Updated enrollment information via email
