Dr. Gloria Burgess, Leadership Development Consultant
Tues., Nov. 8: 12:30-2 p.m., PUB 9208
A pioneer in human dynamics and leadership, Dr. Gloria Burgess presents powerful keynotes and workshops based on her popular books, which include Flawless Leadership, Dare to Wear Your Soul on the Outside, and Legacy Living. Her focus is all about being our powerful, authentic selves—in how we live, lead, and serve. She knows first-hand that your past does not predict your future, having triumphed over poverty, racism and sexism, and now devotes her life to helping people of all ages discover their purpose and passion. She is also an active supporter of the Landfill Harmonic Orchestra, a children’s orchestra that plays instruments literally made from trash, helping to raise funds for the LHO to perform in Seattle.
This event is cosponsored by the Shoreline Community College Multicultural Center. For more information about Dr. Gloria Burgess, visit our biographies page.

Volleyball plays their final home game on Tues., Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., marking the last chance to see the Phintastic Five sophomore class in The Aquarium. The team is currently on an eight-match winning streak and has only dropped two sets during their run. The last match the Phins dropped was to Edmonds, who the Phins face again on Tuesday night.
Shoreline is 17-12 on the year and 9-2 in the North Region. The Phins are one game behind Bellevue in the standings and have already clinched a spot in the NWAC Volleyball Championships. Shoreline needs a win on Tuesday and a loss by Bellevue to earn a share of the Region title.
The Phintastic Five
The 2016 class of sophomores is a special group and one of the most successful in
Shoreline Volleyball history. As freshmen in 2015 Taylor Alexander, Carlie Howard, Kyla Pitzman, Kristina Nielsen, and Josie Dalrymple were all instrumental in Shoreline’s North Region Championship. The Phins have had control of the North Region ever since this group stepped on campus. Over the past two years, the Phins are tied with Bellevue for the best record in the Region at 19-4. In 2015 the Phins finished 5th at the NWAC Volleyball Championships and will look to improve on that finish in this year’s tournament.
The five sophomores will be honored prior to the 7 p.m. match against Edmonds. Come out and support this group one last time before they head off to represent us in the NWAC Championships.
