The International Day of Yoga is recognized by the United Nations, and is celebrated around the world.
In 2014, India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, in his United Nation’s address, suggested an annual Day of Yoga on June 21, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world. The goal was to recognize and celebrate yoga as an instrument to global health, harmony and peace.
The first International Day of Yoga was observed around the world on June 21, 2015. 35,985 people, including Prime Minister Modi and dignitaries from 84 nations, performed 21 asana (yoga postures) for 35 minutes at Rajpath in New Delhi, becoming the largest yoga class ever held
Current students are invited to cap off another Sunfest with our first ever FOAM PARTY! Come out to play with us on Thursday, June 5 from 2-4pm on the Theater Lawn. Pick up some free swag, grab some boba (while supplies last), and have a soapy good time!
Current students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the 2nd day of Sunfest which will feature the return of FREE food truck lunch and our Civics Fair! This event will take place on Wednesday, June 4 from 12-2pm (or while supplies last).
Come pick up some lunch from Spooky Dogs or Thai U Up and learn about local, national, and international politics and how you can get more involved! Free contests and giveaways up for grabs!
Current students are invited to kickoff this year’s Sunfest with our outdoor art festival! Stop by the PUB Courtyard on Tuesday, June 3 from 1-3pm and make your own masterpiece. Activities include:
