SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The 50th Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is happening May 9-19!

MATIKA WILBUR
Please join us for an evening with Matika Wilbur as she shares her presentation Changing the Way We See Native America: Dismantling Native American Stereotypes
Matika Wilbur is a critically acclaimed social documentarian from the Swinomish and Tulalip Peoples of costal Washington, a National Geographic Explorer, and a New York Times best selling author.
Body as Site This workshop is intended to stimulate dialogue on transnationalism and creativity through the medium of performance. Participants will develop performances unique to their body, stories, experiences and various spaces they inhabit.

Transcending the In-Between Anida Yoeu Ali will present a hybrid performance/talk and visual experience on themes of transnationalism, otherness, and belonging. The presentation will include poetry, videos, and images from her current exhibition.

Anida Yoeu Ali is in interdisciplinary artist whose works span performance, installation, new media, public encounters, and political agitation. Raised in Chicago and born in Cambodia, she is a woman of mixed heritage with Malay, Cham, Khmer, and Thai ancestry. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to artmaking, her installation and performance works investigate the artistic, spiritual and political collisions of a hybrid transnational identity.
SEATTLE BLACK PANTHERS: FIGHT FOR JUSTICE & FREEDOM
Join us for a special screening of: Seattle Black Panthers Fight for Justice & Freedom
Director Rick Dupree and founder member of the Seattle Black Panthers, Elmer Dixon, will be in attendance. The evening will also include a spoken word performance by Sharon Nyree Williams.

Throughout May, the WAVES Program coordinated a series of events and activities to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, and we extend a warm invitation to all students, staff, and faculty of the Shoreline Community College family to join in. These events are not only opportunities for us to learn more about AAPI cultures but also to foster greater understanding, unity, and inclusivity within our workplace.

This is your opportunity to meet the candidates for this vital member of Shoreline Community College’s leadership team, ask questions, and provide feedback.
You can attend this week’s forums either in-person or online. The specific dates and times are below.
All SCC students are invited to participate in this year’s ASG Presidential elections. Help choose the student who will represent you and lead your student government in the upcoming year!
Voting will run from Wednesday, May 1st through Friday, May 10th!
The ASG President provides overall direction and leadership for student government, including:
Serving as chair for ASG Board Meetings
Serving as a liaison and representative voice for all Shoreline students to college faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Trustees
Support fellow ASG members as they respond to and address issues impacting students’ Shoreline experience
Student Life will host an Open Forum on Wednesday, May 1st at 1pm in PUB 9208 to give you an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear about their vision for Shoreline next year.
Beginning on May 1st at 2:00pm, you can review candidate profiles and cast your vote HERE. Voting will remain open until Friday, May 10th at 5pm.
