Shoreline Community College’s Sports and Event Marketing class is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Auto Experience to be held on Wed., June 3.
Lynnwood Honda, Carter Subaru, and Campbell Nelson Volkswagen dealerships will bring sustainable vehicles to the campus, and Shoreline Community College’s own Hannah Lindquist will bring her Ford Focus Midget race car.
All are invited to attend this event in front of the PUB from 10am-2pm. The event will be a hands-on learning experience, with those in attendance having the opportunity to look inside the cars and to see their unique features. Those who provide feedback on the cars will be treated to food and drinks.
Last year’s Auto Experience produced more than double the expected attendees. Among those in attendance were a group of special education students from Edmonds Middle School. Teacher Janice Maxson said “the event was the high point of all of our college prep work with my students.”
The Sports and Event Marketing class hopes to build on the success of last year’s Auto Experience in order to make it a community building event at Shoreline Community College.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free concert in the SCC Music Building in Room 818 on Fri., May 29 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The Student Afternoon Recital is considered to be a “talent showcase” for our dedicated music students at Shoreline Community College. This is their time to shine in the spotlight and to have an opportunity to perform in front of their peers. Students are chosen by their instructors to perform at the recital. The selection criteria requires students to have been taking private lessons and/or to have been involved in a music ensemble throughout the quarter. This is an invaluable experience for students to build confidence musically through focused preparation, and the opportunity to perform in front of an audience helps them develop their stage presence.

The Disability Awareness Society (D.A.S.) is hosting a presentation called “When You See Me…” a personal look into our lives on May 28 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the PUB Quiet Dining Room (9208). The D.A.S. is a diverse group of Shoreline students with many different interests and abilities. We are doing this presentation because too often people with different abilities are stereotyped and misunderstood. Come and learn about us, our lives, and hear how we represent ourselves. We are more than what we look like, how we talk, and how we seem.
Our club’s mission is to have meaningful conversations that raise awareness of diversity and difference. Our club’s motto is “Respect Differences—Respect Matters.” Please join us on Thurs. May 28 in the Quiet Dining Room from 1-2:30 p.m. for our presentation and a follow up discussion.
