How To Write a Great College Application Essay workshop: Room 1104

Most 4-year colleges and universities require an essay as part of the transfer application. Come to this workshop and learn:
– the role of the college application essay,
– what to write and what not to write, and
– discuss samples.
Prerequisites: English 101 must be completed or in progress.

Automotive GST Info & Application Session for Winter Quarter 2018
Thurs., Oct. 26: 2-5pm

Get info and apply to the three-quarter I-BEST General Service Technician program to learn professional automotive maintenance and repair techniques. To apply, attend this session and bring your driver’s license & a copy of your driving record.
Free and open to the public, attending this event is the best way to apply to start the program. Attendees will learn about the program, take a tour, and hear a short presentation about funding options. If interested, students have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the program director and can apply to the program on the spot.

Come on out and support our women’s volleyball team as they take on Bellevue at home at 7 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 1. The first 100 Shoreline students, staff, and faculty through the door receive a free t-shirt, popcorn, and drink.

Interested in a career path that’s always in demand? You can become a general service technician in the field of automotive maintenance in just three quarters through the I-BEST program at Shoreline. AND, you can get started as early as winter quarter.
To find out how, come to our info session this Thursday, Oct. 26 from 2-5pm in the 2100 bldg., Rm 2120. Free and open to the public, attending this event is THE BEST WAY to apply to start the program. Attendees will learn about the program, take a tour, hear a short presentation about funding options, and get to speak individually with a funding pro. If interested, students have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the program director and can apply to the program on the spot.

College representatives from Grand Canyon University and University of Washington – Bothell will be on Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

The Artist’s Reception for Slipware, the current exhibit in the Admin Bldg (1000) gallery (main lobby) is this Sat., Oct. 21 from 5-7pm. Come meet Zak Helenske, creator of the Slipware exhibit.
Zak Helenske is a potter who is interested in the development of form and the exploration of pattern, referencing architectural situations and social observations. He uses geometry as a language to communicate ideas of space, proximity, occupation, and structure.
Pots are some of the objects that connect us across cultures and across time. Helenske is interested in the anti-monumental, and challenged by the spatial balance between pottery, architecture and community.
