The environmental club is planning a field trip to Vashon Island, and other campus clubs and Shoreline students are welcome to join us.

Our club will try our best to apply for mini-grants for kayaking and travel costs.

If you’re interested in joining us, please sign up for a spot by Fri., May 5 by emailing: environmentalclub.shoreline@gmail.com

We will need your: full name, student ID, email address, phone number, and a Yes/No response for the following three questions:
1. Are you planning to stay overnight?
2. Can you drive and provide a ride for others (how many can fit in your vehicle)?
3. Are you planning to participate in kayaking?

Once we know how many students to expect, we will send out further communication regarding travel arrangements and accommodations. We encourage carpooling and would love people to sign up and commit to driving fellow students.

A schedule of events planned for this trip is here.

Please contact us with questions or concerns at environmentalclub.shoreline@gmail.com.

You can also contact us through the Facebook Page: SCC Environmental Club.

Interested in joining the Environmental Club? We meet Fridays from 1-1:30 p.m. at the Greenhouse and then from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Rm #2723.

  • What is happening with our climate? Global Warming and large-scale climate and related changes.
  • What has caused it? Human industry and agriculture adding excess Carbon to Earth’s atmosphere.
  • What are the effects? There are many and none of them are good!
  • How do we know? The science is certain and experts agree.
  • What can we do? LOTS! There is already hope…

The Climate Reality Project and its Leadership Corps is one of many ways to be involved in making the essential changes…changes to turn back the causes of our climate crisis.

Come join geologist and earth/space educator Linda Khandro with a short slideshow from the CRP to talk briefly about the cause of our climate crisis AND the good work that is already having effects in reducing the input of excess carbon from fossil fuel burning.
