- What is happening with our climate? Global Warming and large-scale climate and related changes.
- What has caused it? Human industry and agriculture adding excess Carbon to Earth’s atmosphere.
- What are the effects? There are many and none of them are good!
- How do we know? The science is certain and experts agree.
- What can we do? LOTS! There is already hope…
The Climate Reality Project and its Leadership Corps is one of many ways to be involved in making the essential changes…changes to turn back the causes of our climate crisis.
Come join geologist and earth/space educator Linda Khandro with a short slideshow from the CRP to talk briefly about the cause of our climate crisis AND the good work that is already having effects in reducing the input of excess carbon from fossil fuel burning.

Logan, a certified therapy dog and his human, President Roberts, will be chilling out in the Counseling Center (FOSS 5245) on Wed., May 3 from 10–11:30 a.m.
Stop by for some puppy love and feel that stress melt away! Everyone is welcome as this is a demanding time for all!

Shoreline students have access to free online tutoring in 15 subjects through Shoreline’s membership in the Western eTutoring Consortium. Three types of online tutoring are available: live tutoring, eQuestions, and an online writing lab. To access eTutoring visit http://shoreline.edu/twls/ and click on “eTutoring” in the left menu.

The Public Speaking Leadership Club has two upcoming events and we are looking for talented student voices to showcase in our last two events of the year!
We are putting out an open call for submissions for the following spring events:
Mental Health Awareness event: May 11 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Audience of One = Mentor Appreciation event: June 6 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
We are looking for:
• Public speaking presentations
• Reading poetry
• Original writing
• Q&A sessions
• Panel presentations
• Art/photography presentations
• Something else?
If you have a special interest in either of these topics and would like to know more about presenting, we will have a table in the PUB near the information desk Thurs., April 27 during lunch, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

GAC presents: My Education Journey, Thurs., April 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. in Room 1503 with speaker Loretta Rafay.
Loretta Rafay, Shoreline Community College, 2007 Graduate Student, University Of Washington, Environmental Science & Resource Management (College Of The Environment) (M.A. 2018, expected). Member of Terrestrial Restoration Ecology Laboratory.
Loretta’s educational journey took her from economics to Asian languages, from criminal justice reform to ecological restoration. She shares her personal experience from growing up in rural Colorado trailer parks to doing serious scientific research as a graduate student, and along the way discovering an avocation that, in her own words ”has enabled me to adapt my educational track over time to find my own unique path.”
