Hello Shoreline students:

Summer instruction will begin on Monday, June 28, 2021.  Given our region’s downward trend in COVID-19 infection rates and the success of King County vaccination efforts, the College is increasing its hybrid on-campus course offerings this summer.

As we gradually return to an in-person modality, safety continues to be our top priority.  Students, faculty and staff should all be aware of the current COVID-19 protocols.  Read the FAQs below for a reminder about the guidelines for on-campus presence.

How do I access campus?

If you are a student or visitor, you must submit a Campus Access form prior to arriving on campus.  A new attestation is required each day.  Upon arrival each day, students and visitors will be required to go to the check-in station in Room 2910.

What if I need to pick up or return materials to campus?

If you are only picking up or dropping off materials from your vehicle and not accessing any buildings or spaces on campus, you should use Shoreline’s Curbside Pickup/Drop-Off program, located in Room 2905. To access this service:

What are the rules while on campus?

Mask wearing, social distancing, and cleaning practices continue for all on-campus activities. Hybrid class sizes have been adjusted to ensure appropriate social distancing and safety protocols. The College is following Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) guidelines regarding appropriate building air filtration.

Students must do the following when coming to campus:

  • Wear a mask at all times while indoors on campus, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Mask wearing is not required while outdoors.
  • Fill out a Campus Access Form to check in and out of campus each day.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick.
  • Follow any specific class safety practices communicated at the start of the quarter.

Do I need to be vaccinated?*

COVID-19 vaccinations are not currently required at Shoreline, but state higher education guidance could change in the future. The College strongly recommends all students and employees get a vaccine. Find a vaccine location near you.

*Certain programs require students and faculty to be vaccinated. Students in these programs will have already been contacted.

What student services are on campus?

All student services will continue to operate remotely throughout summer quarter. As we plan for a gradual return to on-campus services in the fall, we will do all that we can to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Certain areas in the Pagoda Union Building (PUB) will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Mask wearing will be required except while eating and social distancing will be required. Areas open to students include:

  • Second floor bathrooms (main floor)
  • Food area (main floor)
  • Second floor lobby (main floor)

The first and third floors of the PUB will remain closed.

Please reference the College’s COVID-19 web page for more detailed information about the College’s guidelines.

Thank you for your cooperation with the guidelines listed above. I am confident that by working together, our campus will continue to be a safe and productive environment for all.

Sincerely,

Phillip J. King
Vice President for Student Learning, Equity & Success

All in-person classes will meet online on Monday, June 28 due to excessive heat conditions. Online classes and remote services will continue. The air-conditioned PUB (Building 9000) will be open 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for any on-campus residents or employees. For additional updates, please visit www.shoreline.edu.

Please see the following tips and guidelines for staying safe during the heat wave:

  •  Ensure proper hydration and ventilation.
    • Drink plenty of water, and have a beverage with you at all times.
    • Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink.
    • Avoid drinks with caffeine and/or large amounts of sugar which can increase dehydration.
  • Take regular breaks as needed in cooler areas where possible.

The COVID Check-In Station has been moved from the Automotive Showroom to the lower level of Building 2900 in Room 2909. This move was necessitated by the 2500 building (Manufacturing program) needing space for classes. The new location for the Check-In Station is next to the Curbside pick-up/drop-off area. There is signage directing students from the main gate to the 2900 building. This location will be staffed starting Monday June 28, the first day of Summer Quarter. It will be open Monday-Thursday 6:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thank you, Ric (James Doike-Foreman) Systems Administration Technology Support Services
