Dear Shoreline Students,
I am sending a follow up message regarding vaccination and exemption requirements at the College. Based on some recent clarifications from the state, and given our status as a fully vaccinated campus, we wanted to communicate a change in our vaccination status requirement for students:
- In-person or on campus students coming to the college for courses and/or ANY activities during fall quarter are required to be fully vaccinated or claim a valid medical or religious exemption by October 18, 2021. Please note that any activity or service sought in person would necessitate this requirement.
- Fully online students who will not enter the campus in fall quarter are not required to claim their vaccination status or submit an exemption.
IMPORTANT:
Students participating in in-person/hybrid courses or services who do not submit an attestation or have an approved exemption by Oct. 18 will have a registration hold applied to their records. Additionally, students who submit false statements for the purpose of attestation or exemptions may be subject to disciplinary action.
As we prepare the campus to welcome students back for a phased in-person return, we wanted to express our appreciation both for your tenacity and the grace you have demonstrated during these challenging times. Thank you for your attention to this important message and contributing to making Shoreline a safe and welcoming campus.

Dear students,
Fall quarter begins in just a few weeks and we want to be sure you have the latest COVID-19 vaccination information for Shoreline Community College.
It is important to note Washington state has removed the ability for students to claim a vaccine exemption for personal/philosophical reasons. Please read below.
Shoreline is a Vaccinated & Masked Campus
For the health and safety of our community, the College is following all Washington state requirements and will require all students and employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 beginning fall quarter 2021. While this decision was not made lightly and we respect each student’s right to make their own health choices, COVID-19 vaccines are considered a safe and effective way to ensure a healthy campus. Masks will be worn indoors by all students, employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
Verify Your Vaccination Status Now
If you are enrolling in any fall classes (online or in-person), you will be required to complete an online vaccine attestation form before classes begin on September 29 or claim a medical or religious exemption. You will attest to which vaccine you have received and on what dates. You will not be asked to upload or present proof, but you will attest that the information you provide is true and correct. Students who make false claims may be subject to a discipline process. Verify your status now.
Vaccination Deadlines
If you need additional time to become fully vaccinated, the College will accept attestation forms until October 18. To meet this requirement, you must receive the recommended doses of approved vaccines by these dates:
- Pfizer – First dose on or by September 13, second dose or by October 4
- Moderna – First dose on or by September 6, second dose on or by October 4
- Johnson & Johnson – Single dose on or by October 4
Medical or Religious Exemptions
Students who wish to claim an exemption for medical or religious reasons must complete the online vaccine attestation form and provide documentation of a medical or health condition that prevents them from receiving a vaccine, or documentation that their sincerely held religious belief is in contradiction to taking a vaccine.
Personal or Philosophical Exemptions
The state no longer allows college students to claim an exemption for personal or philosophical reasons. Any student who already claimed that exemption at Shoreline must submit a new online vaccine attestation form and either attest to receiving a vaccine or claim a medical or religious exemption.
On-Campus Vaccine Clinics
Pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics are available on campus through October 8 for all students, employees, and the public Mondays & Wednesdays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed September 6) and Fridays 9 a.m. – noon. Sign up for an appointment now; some drop-in appointments will also be available.

Good news! Quarterly tuition deadlines have been changes to two weeks before the first day of the quarter.
This change gives you more time to secure funding and aid, and reduces the number of students who are dropped from classes for non-payment.
- For fall quarter 2021, tuition is due September 14.
- Tuition for courses added after September 14 is due within 5 business days of registering or by September 29, whichever is first.
- Once fall quarter begins on September 29, tuition and fees are due within 24 hours of registering.

Still on the fence about getting vaccinated against COVID-19?
If you’re a Shoreline student, you may be automatically entered into a drawing for one of ten $1,000 scholarships if you have proof of receiving one shot by July 30!
On July 30, the College will select 10 students with proof of full or partial COVID-19 vaccination to receive a $1000 scholarship to apply to Shoreline tuition and fees during the 2021-22 school year.
Scholarships are open to all Shoreline students who:
- Completed 6+ credits during spring quarter 2021
- Did not graduate/complete their program and will take classes at Shoreline in fall 2021, winter 2022, or spring 2022
- Are Washington residents who have lived in the state since May 30, 2021 or earlier
- Can provide proof of receiving at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen by July 30, 2021
Haven’t been vaccinated yet? Get your first shot by July 30 in order to be automatically entered!
Already received your shots? You’ll be automatically entered to be selected – no action needed!
We will notify selected students and provide instructions for how to verify proof of vaccination.
