They do this by providing free job training and education – and basic services – to low income individuals throughout five counties in western Washington. Come learn the history behind Cinco de Mayo and celebrate with Shoreline on May 5, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the Main Campus Theater. The film will be followed by a discussion with director Rafa Lara. The event is free, but reservations are required, so save your seat now!
National Day of Prayer meeting, Gym

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Since its inception, this day has continually united Americans from all socio-economic, political, and ethnic backgrounds in prayer while also encouraging personal repentance and righteousness in the culture. The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans and is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens together in celebration of prayer.
This year’s observance for Shoreline/LFP will be held at the campus gymnasium, Thurs., May 5 at 7pm, and is sponsored by the Open Door Christian Fellowship of SCC, along with other college clubs and local places of worship.

Shoreline offers two direct transfer degrees with concentration in the visual arts: an AFAS in studio art, and an AFAP in photography. SCC Art Gallery is proud to present this group exhibition of up-and-coming artists to the greater Seattle arts community.

The Phins continued their excellence in the classroom during the Winter Quarter. The Softball team earned the highest team GPA for the Winter Quarter with a combined 3.09.
Volleyball star Taylor Alexander had the highest GPA of our female student-athletes with an impressive 3.93 for the Winter Quarter.
David Becker is currently hitting .340 for the Baseball team but he was even better in the classroom with a 4.0 – highest of all our student-athletes for the Winter Quarter.

“Letters of Joy” conference and workshops, PUB

“Letters of Joy” event includes a Friday evening lecture and approximately twenty two-hour classes on Saturday taught by a wide variety of calligraphy teachers and other artists.
The keynote speaker teaches three sessions of his or her class so that almost all attendees will be able sample his or her teaching style and learn a new technique or two.
We are pleased to announce that Barry Morentz will be the keynote speaker and also teach classes at the 2016 Letters of Joy conference this year.

Representatives from over 30 colleges and universities will be on Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Mark your calendars for the Troy Wolff Not-so-annual, Offhanded, Mixed-gendered, 3-on-3, B-ball Tournament happening Fri., May 20 at 10 a.m. in the main gym. The tournament will benefit the Troy Wolff Memorial Humanities Scholarship Fund and Shoreline Community College Food Pantry. Each team must find at least ten $10 sponsors to compete.
Teams advancing to the Finals will play on June 2 at 10 a.m. The last day to register is May 15.
