The Winter 2017 International Students Orientation Program (ISOP) is now accepting volunteers.

ISOP volunteers will work closely with International Peer Mentors (IPMs) to assist new international students to achieve a successful orientation.

International students new to campus this quarter will participate in ISOP, which includes placement testing, advising, and more. Please welcome these students to campus as you see them, and follow the orientation on social media at #ISOPSCC

Wed., June 15 & Thurs., June 16
Join Jason Francois (Director of Facilities and Capital Projects) on a walking tour of temporary (summer) locations for Workforce, library services, and campus learning centers.

The tour will meet at 9203 (“Fishbowl” in PUB) and two tour sessions are offered:
Wed., June 15, 10:30-11:30am
Thurs., June 16, 1-2pm

Each year, International Education recruits a dynamic team of 
International Peer Mentors.

“IPMs” are official International Education student-staff members. They play a critical role in making sure international students feel welcomed and get the most out of their Shoreline experience. Students who want a fulfilling leadership opportunity and a year of fun and excitement, should apply for this position!

Qualified applicants must:
Be currently enrolled.
Hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
For non-native speakers of English, you must complete EAP 090 (Level 7) before September.
Be able to work at least until mid-August.
Commit to working during school breaks
(December through June).

We hope you will join us for the
Global Showcase tomorrow March 3 from 12:30 – 3 p.m. in the Main Dining Room (9215), hosted by the International Peer Mentors. Students from around the world will be showcasing their culture through engaging booths and performance. Come learn about Myanmar, China, Mali, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Macau, and more! There will also be a fun passport activity with chances to win prizes.

IE fashion show
Nov. 9-13 is International Education Week at Shoreline Community College! We will be starting the week off with a bang with the International Fashion Show on Mon., Nov. 9 from 12:30–2 p.m. in the PUB Main Dining Room. Students and staff will be modeling fashion from cultures all over the world in this fun, festive event. Come join us and feast your eye on some global fashion!

Every year, the Northwest International Education Association (NIEA) sponsors a one-day conference for college faculty, staff and students to learn about current global issues and world events. The theme of the conference builds on the yearly theme of the Community College Master Teacher Institute with world-renowned researchers, discipline-specific experts and community leaders presenting.

This year’s theme is “From Peril to Hope: Migration and Refugees” and it will be held at Shoreline Community College on Fri., Oct. 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
