Join us Thurs., July 16 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the ground floor of the FOSS building for a Job Seekers’ Roundtable focusing on applicant tracking software and how resumes are sorted.

Today’s job seekers need to spend the time to make sure that our professional resumes can get by the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), which is the software that reads your resume and ranks it according to keywords. Today about 65% of medium to large companies are now using Applicant Tracking Systems and this has created a nightmare for job seekers. In fact, a recent study indicated that about 75% of qualified job seekers are being eliminated because they do not know the rules.

We’ll share some of the do’s and don’ts with the usual treats and beverages. Bring your resume on a thumb drive, as we’ll broach other topics to do with resumes.

Join us Thurs., July 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the ground floor level of FOSS (5000 bldg.) for this week’s Job Seekers’ Roundtable on how to correctly format your resume.

Nobody can ever underestimate how important it is to have a good resume. First impressions count, and the first impression that a potential employer will have of you is going to depend on how you present your resume. This is going to be your one and only chance to capture a potential employer’s attention, or for your resume to be tossed into the file of those they don’t want to pursue. And this is where resume formatting becomes exceptionally important.

So what makes a well-formatted resume stand out? In a nutshell, not so much the minutia of every job you’ve held over the past 10 or so years, but the precision and readability of your work history. Get rid of the fluff or “resume padding.” Proof for correct grammar. Make good use of white space. All these tips will be covered and more.

See you this Thursday! Please bring your resume and share some tips over iced tea and other treats compliments of Central Market.

And as always: Good Luck Out There!
