China-president-Xi-Jinping

The first few days of school always create a bit of traffic congestion in the areas surrounding campus and in the campus parking lots as students work to figure out their new schedules and routines. This year, traffic will be even more of a tangle thanks to Chinese President Xi Jinping making a visit to the Seattle area Tues., Sept. 22 through Thurs., Sept. 24.

WSDOT has warned that traffic throughout the entire Puget Sound region will be heavy and unpredictable, as the president travels with a police-escorted motorcade that could result in traffic stops and slowdowns that could affect multiple highways and regions. Traffic is expected to be at its worst on Wed., Sept. 23 – the first day of Fall quarter classes!

The takeaway? Get yourself started off on the right foot this school year by planning ahead and giving yourself plenty of extra time to get to and around campus. You’ll thank yourself for planning ahead when you’re sitting in your class stress-free while others are still stuck in traffic.
