Interested in transferring to the University of Washington – Seattle?
Come and learn about the admission process, best preparation, and how to connect with UW resources. This session is good for students with any number of credits, from very few to almost complete.
How to Write a Great College Admissions Essay, Room 1402
Mon., Feb. 4: 2:30-4pm
Attend this workshop to understand the role of the college essay and the process of writing and to discuss samples. Includes Dos & Don’ts and follow up resources. You will also do some writing. Prerequisite: enrollment or completion of English 101. Note: for help with your draft essay, go to The Writing and Learning Studio.

Tues., Feb. 5: 11am-1pm
College representatives from Central Washington University and Seattle University will be at Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Join us for an Artists’ Reception for The BIGGER Picture, an exhibit featuring works by Shoreline Community College Staff & Faculty. The reception is Tues., Jan. 29, 4-6pm in the Art Gallery in the Admin Bldg (1000) lobby.
The BIGGER Picture exhibit runs in the Art Gallery Jan. 14 – April 26.
The Shoreline Community College Art Gallery is proud to present The BIGGER Picture,an exhibition that celebrates creative visionaries among our staff and faculty from all departments and disciplines. Through visual, performing and literary arts, many staff and faculty connect with students and surrounding communities in diverse and inspiring ways or make art for personal and spiritual health. This exhibit honors these big-picture thinkers from a variety of fields across campus who participate in artistic practices both in their personal lives and through student engagement.

At the Winter 2019 International Transfer Fair, over 90 universities from around the country will be at Shoreline to meet with prospective students. All students, international and domestic, are welcome to stop by to talk with representatives from UW, Seattle U, Arizona State, Drexel, Oregon State, SCAD, WSU, and many more. Workforce Assistance and Qualifications
A college degree can improve income by 56% above a high school diploma alone, but getting there can be expensive.
Do you need money to help pay for your education?

Workforce could potentially pay for your educational expenses if:
* You are in a Professional Technical Program (e.g., Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Automotive, Manufacturing, Visual Communications, Music Technology, some business, and more!)
* Lived in WA for a year or more and are a citizen or legal resident.
Or meet one of the following qualifications, if you are:
· Receiving any benefits from DSHS.
· Only earn $2000 or less a month.
· Have received unemployment in the past four years.
· Laid off or were self-employed and need to retrain.
· Recently lost or divorced a supporting spouse.
· Became a veteran within the past four years

Per the President, designated free parking days occur on campus at the start of each quarter, spanning the first day of international orientation through the first few days of the quarter.
For winter quarter 2019, the free parking days will be: December 31 – January 4.
Safety & Security will post signage on the parking machines on these days.

Lynda.com has become “LinkedIn Learning” and we are upgrading as of December 18th, 2018.
All account and course information will be transferred to LinkedIn Learning. The upgrade will require activation via an e-mail from LinkedIn Learning that you will receive. Lynda.com will not be accessible during this upgrade to LinkedIn Learning.

A reminder that campus and all campus services will be closed Dec. 24-28 and on Jan. 1.
Due to the winter closure, the tuition due date for winter quarter is extended to Jan. 2 and students have until Jan. 7 to sign up for a payment plan.
During the break, you can still register and pay online. Staff will be available to assist you when the campus reopens on Dec. 31 and from Jan. 2 on.
Winter Quarter begins on Monday, January 7, 2019. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
