There are some fantastic films still scheduled here at the main campus theater including WOODPECKERS, a hard-hitting but compassionate prison story from Santo Domingo. Fri., June 2
4 p.m. – GHOLAM
Shahab Hosseini, star of 2016 Oscar®-winner THE SALESMAN, gives a mesmerizing performance as an enigmatic Iranian cab driver in London who strives to live a quiet life on his own terms until his mysterious past threatens to overtake him.
6:30 p.m. – THE HIPPOPOTAMUS
Adapted from the deliciously witty novel by Stephen Fry, Roger Allam gives a wonderfully cantankerous performance as a profane, drunken writer who takes a job investigating a series of unexplained miracle healings at a friend’s country manor.
8:45 p.m. – IN THE RADIANT CITY
Rachel Lambert’s incisive first feature, co-produced by Jeff Nichols (MIDNIGHT SPECIAL), is an intimate drama about a man who testified against his brother for committing a horrendous crime. Twenty years later he returns to his rural Kentucky hometown to face his fractured family.
Sat., June 3

The Public Speaking Leadership Club is putting out an open call for talented student voices to showcase in our last event of the year: *Audience of One* – Mentor Appreciation event: June 6 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
This event will feature “mentor appreciation” presentations … a chance for students to write and present a “letter” (or art piece or poetry or anything you can think of) that honors someone at Shoreline who positively affected their academic career – this could be an instructor, administrator, tutor, employee, another student, etc. Each presenter will have about 5 minutes (if you might need more, let us know and we’ll try to work it out).
We are looking for:
• Public speaking presentations
• Reading poetry
• Original writing
• Q&A sessions
• Panel presentations
• Art/photography presentations
• Anything else you can think of?
If you would like to know more about presenting, we will have a table in the PUB near the information desk Thur., Jun 1 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. each day.
Or contact us anytime through our facebook page http://facebook.com/shorelineccpslc

The play focuses on a simple-minded character named Truffaldino, who brings trouble on himself when he attempts to care for two masters at once without either finding out.

Thurs., June 1, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Room 1010(m) Boardroom
*This is part of the Great Discussion series, which requires registration. See details below.
Nuclear nonproliferation was a top priority for the Obama administration. While the Iran Deal was a diplomatic victory toward this end, major threats persist from both state and non-state actors. Countries like North Korea, Russia, and India and Pakistan continue to challenge nonproliferation efforts. The possibility that terrorists will carry out an attack using a “dirty bomb,” made from captured nuclear materials, looks increasingly real. In a fractious world, which way forward for U.S. nuclear security policy?
Format:
6:30 – Video background report (compliments printed briefing paper provided in advance)*
7:00 – Remarks by guest
7:30 – group discussion
*Videos and Briefing papers provided by the Foreign Policy Association.
Enrollment is limited. $35 to register for the series (8 meetings)**
**Registration includes briefing book on the eight issues.
