Can’t make it Tuesday? Film a quick video of yourself on your phone (or whatever other device you’ve got handy) and tell us a favorite memory of yours about Shoreline, what you’ll miss, what you learned about yourself as a person/student here, what Shoreline has meant to you – or whatever else you want to tell us as you prepare to move on to your next chapter. Email videos (they don’t have to look professional, this is all about YOU as a graduating student) to: revans@shoreline.edu.

Come on soon-to-be-graduates! Make this inaugural commencement video one to remember!

Internet service to Shoreline Community College was restored late Thursday, April 9, 2015, after an apparent construction mishap in Seattle cut what was termed “major fiber-optic trunk line.”

The outage disrupted all Internet-related services to the campus, as well as to tens of thousands of other customers in the Seattle area. The outage began around 9 a.m., Thursday, and service was restored about 12 hours later.

During the outage, personnel from Technology Support Services (TSS) worked to put a temporary website using a cloud-hosted solution that allowed visitors to see the college site and an explanation of the outage. Also, TSS and eLearning personnel worked together to create a new login procedure for the Canvas learning management system. That new procedure will now stay in place as a hedge against any future Internet outages that impact the campus.

The college emergency alert system, Rave Alert, isn’t hosted on campus and wasn’t affected by the outage. Personnel in PIO used cell phones to access the system and send messages about the outage.
