Campus events for the week of March 19: Multicultural Center potluck, music student performances, and more!

These are the events happening around campus for the week of March 19. Note that Tues., March 20 is a prep day and there are no classes on this day. 

Mon., March 19

College Rep Visit: Table in PUB Lobby
Mon., March 19: 11am-1pm
A representative from Lake Washington Institute of Technology will be at Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

Multicultural Center End-of-Quarter Potluck: PUB 9301
Mon., March 19: 12:30-2:30pm
Multicultural Center’s End-of-Quarter potluck recognizes student’s achievement within the recognized student organizations (RSO) clubs on Shoreline Community College’s campus. As part of Student Life, Multicultural Center would like to invite you to come and meet other students who are active in student clubs and organizations.

Tues., March 20

Instrumental Juries: Music Bldg., Rm 818
Tues., March 20: 10:30-11:30am
Instrumental music students taking private instruction lessons perform a solo piece in front of a jury of Music Faculty as their final exam. Everyone in the community is invited to attend these jury performances. Admission is free.

Vocal Juries: Campus Theater, 1600 Bldg
Tues., March 20: 12:30-2:30pm
Students taking private vocal lessons will perform a selected piece before a jury of vocal instructors who will evaluate their performance. Everyone is invited to attend these jury performances, and admission is free.

UW Physicians Assistant Program presentation: Room 1104
Tues., March 20: 3:30-5pm
Hear Dr. Lorena Alarcon-Casas Wright, MD talk about the UW Physicians Assistant Program and find out if it’s a fit for you.

Vocal Class Performances: Music Bldg., Room 818
Tues., March 20: 5:30-9:30pm
This is the final performance for the quarter for students registered for voice classes. The students choose a solo of their choice for the performance. The music selections for the recital range from present-day composers to Early Baroque pieces. Small ensembles will also perform. The performance is FREE and all from the community are welcome.

Do you need help paying for school? We can help pay for tuition, fees, books, parking, or Orca bus passes if you are:

  1. Low-income (receiving FOOD STAMPS or CASH through DSHS or able to provide evidence of income) or unemployed, and
  2. a US citizen, permanent resident, or refugee who has lived in Washington State for at least one year, and
  3. enrolled in ANY of the following:
  • Professional/Technical Programs (certificates/non-transfer degrees )
  • ESL (English as a Second Language)
  • High School 21+ or GED Preparation (Adult Basic Education)

The Parents Advisory Committee and Parent Education Department of Shoreline Community College welcome Julietta Skoog – Wiring the Brain for Capability and Cooperation. This event is open to the public. Please join us!

Nursing students graduating Winter 2018 are holding their Commencement ceremony. All welcome to come congratulate their hard work.
