Campus Safety & Security Tips

Welcome to Fall Quarter 2024!

As we work our way through the first week of the quarter, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide some tips from the Department of Safety & Security.

Parking
The first 2 weeks of Fall Quarter 2024 (Sept. 25 – Oct. 11) is the official grace period for students to purchase their quarterly permits. During this time, citations will not be issued for lack of parking permit in student areas (ADA violations, parking in multiple stalls, and other illegal and hazardous violations will still be cited). You may still find warnings on your vehicle instructing you to purchase a permit, but you will not be cited for lack of a permit.

Beginning Monday, October 14, permits are required to park on campus for all days each quarter, Monday-Thursday from 6:00am-4:00pm, excluding weekends and holidays. Citations with fines are issued for ADA violations, PCC parking violations, Visitor Lot violations, and other illegal/hazardous (fire lane, blocking roadway, not parked in a parking stall, etc.).

Students can purchase parking permits in Student Finance (aka Cashiers). When purchasing your permit, please be ready to provide your vehicle make, model, and license plate number. Daily permits are also available for purchase at pay stations located as you enter the East Gate from Greenwood Avenue and on the main walkway between Bldg. 7000 (Housing) and Bldg. 1000.

Campus Security
We have a uniformed Campus Security Officer on campus and on-duty 24/7/365. Our personnel are trained and equipped to respond to a vast variety of calls that include, but are not limited to, basic first aid, medical emergencies, security emergencies, and calls for assistance.

If you require medical assistance, DO NOT GO TO THE NURSING BUILDING. You can come to the Safety & Security Office in Room 5102 (first floor of FOSS) or call campus security and an officer will come to you.

To reach our team during business hours, call 206-546-4633, or visit the Safety & Security Office in the Foss Building, Room 5102.

After hours or if the office does not answer, the on-duty Campus Security Officer can be reached at 206-235-5860

Courtesy Services
Our department provides vehicle lockout assistance, vehicle jumpstarts, security escorts, and more!

Our daily campus shuttle now makes stops at the North Shoreline/185th Link Light Rail Station! The shuttle makes stops throughout the school day, between 8:00am and 3:00pm; you may also contact the driver directly if you are at a shuttle stop waiting for pick up, Shuttle Drive Cell Phone # 206-759-1768.

There are stations across campus that provide free naloxone (opioid overdose medication), fentanyl testing strips, and educational information in accordance with House Bill 2112 (23-24). These supplies are provided at no cost to students, staff, and community members. Please take only what you need. These are located in the Counseling Center, Bldg. 9000 2nd Floor Restrooms, Bldg. 6000 1st Floor Avanti vending area, Bldg. 4000 outside the main entrance, Bldg. 4000 outside of the 2nd Floor Restrooms, and Bldg. 7000 2nd Floor Elevator Lobby (resident access required).

Lost & Found
The official campus Lost & Found is located in the Safety & Security Office, Room 5102. We hold onto items for 3-6 months before disposing of them.

Tips
Here are a few tips that can help you in having a wonderful experience here at Shoreline:

  • STOP! If you haven’t already, save the after-hours Campus Security number in your phone now! 206-235-5860.
  • Park in high traffic and well-lit areas.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle and remove items from view.
    • Even if a bag only has dirty gym clothes in it, a prowler may break in hoping it contains valuables.
  • If you observe a suspicious person or vehicle on campus, call security.
  • Always keep your phone and photo ID on your person in the event that you need to contact assistance.
  • If you witness or observe concerning behavior or posts on social media, report it to Campus Security by calling the office or after-hours number.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Do not report injuries, criminal activity, or request immediate assistance via email, as email is only monitored sporadically during office hours.

For questions, please come to the Safety & Security Office (5102), call us at: (206) 546-4633 or email: safetyandsecurity@shoreline.edu
