Now in its 9th year, the Solar Washington Solar Summit is an important annual information gathering and networking event for anyone working in or around the solar field, for residential and business solar owners and would-be owner, for solar advocates, enthusiasts and educators, and for utilities, government and Tribes. The Solar Summit tackles the most timely issues and most talked about conversations surrounding solar energy and solar adoption in Washington.

This year at Shoreline Community College, we have planned a track for youths and students that will include attendance to plenary sessions, a private solar training session that will offer hands-on experience learning how solar panels produce electricity with a demonstration and explanation of the different components of a solar photovoltaic system, and a career exploration opportunity.

    • Your registration ($10) also includes optional breakfast 7:30 to 8:30 and lunch at noon.

8:30-9:30: Plenary Session: Advancing Energy Equity

What is energy equity and justice? How does energy equity and justice intersect with solar? This panel will cover effective community engagement strategies, tribal energy visions, and how communities can design and implement clean energy projects. Join us to learn how solar energy can drive Washington’s energy and environmental justice goals.

9:30-10:30: Plenary Session: Electrification and Decarbonization

In this overview of Washington’s path to a decarbonized energy sector by 2050, our panel will explore innovative technologies and policies for decarbonizing the state and its commercial buildings and will cover practical steps for Washingtonians to decarbonize their own homes. We will leave you with several actions that you can take to start your journey towards a decarbonized future.

11:00-12:00: Youth solar training: hands-on experience to learn how solar panels produce electricity with a demonstration and explanation of the different components of a solar photovoltaic system
