ctcLink Multifactor Authentication Security Rules Changing 2/16

Dear Students,

This is a reminder that the security questions option for ctcLink multi-factor authentication (MFA) is set to be discontinued this Friday, February 16th.  If you currently use the security questions for your ctcLink MFA access, please make sure to log on and set up an alternate MFA option before Friday.  You can view the original message below.

Original Message:

We have received a communication from the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) of some system wide changes to the ctcLink Multi-factor authentication (MFA) process for all users.

To enhance ctcLink cybersecurity and to ensure the confidentiality and security of nonpublic personal information, the option to establish security questions is being removed for all students and employees statewide.  It has been found that the option for using security questions does not provide an adequate level of additional security for which MFA was designed. This change is currently set to take place on February 16th, 2024.

We understand this may be an inconvenience for those who have chosen this MFA option. TSS, the local security administrators, and business analysts will do all we can to assist in this process, however this is a mandate from the State in which we must comply.  For everyone currently using the security questions as their MFA option, we are strongly recommending going into your ctcLink account and selecting an alternative method prior to the statewide change occurring on February 16th.  For further instructions on how to make this change, please see the following instructions here. We thank you for your attention to this important matter.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to support@shoreline.edu

Thank you.
