Students and volunteers with Deep Roots Community Garden give away seedlings for Earth Day 2015.
Earth Day 2015 was pretty awesome around Shoreline’s campus, with free grilled veggies from Patty Pan Cooperative and a seedling giveaway at the Deep Roots Community Garden. We also had a ton of great speakers and student learning about advocacy during Amp Your Voice, and had a great turn out for the Earth Day showing of the 1973 film “Soylent Green.”
Earth Week continues Thurs., April 23 with more awesome activities. Check out these fun events around campus today:
Native Plant Sale, PUB Courtyard – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Come support two local nurseries Go Natives Nursery and Kruckeberg Botanic Gardens that specialize in native plant habitat and the benefits that our yards and local greenbelts receive when we plant natives and remove invasive plants.
Shoreline Community College: The Land We Walk On, PUB Quiet Dining Room (9208) – 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Join us as Vicki Stiles, executive director of the Shoreline Historical Museum, presents the history of the land on which Shoreline Community College now stands. Using maps and photos Ms. Stiles will bring to light some interesting information about the College area’s environment.
