Informational tables in the PUB Courtyard highlighting Earth Week events, reasons for removing invasive plants, Environmental Club activities, the progress of the campus Rain Garden, Tree Campus USA recognition, and SCOF promoting cafeteria recycling and ADA issues.
Earth Week Arbor Day Recognition/Tree Campus USA Certification, PUB 9208
11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Shoreline has been designated as a Tree Campus USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for creating a campus tree plan that highlights the importance and diversity of our tree canopy. We are in the process of updating our campus tree map tour to include new plantings, signage, and smart phone technology. Please come to this presentation to support the students that put so much work into our new tree campus plan.
Keynote Address: Worldview of A Standing Rock Sioux, PUB 9208
12:30-1:20 p.m.
Standing Rock Sioux tribal member Kyle Schierbeck will share the historical perspective of the Standing Rock Sioux, their current struggles, he will address Native philosophy, and tell us about his non-profit organization Unkitawa that supports the work at Standing Rock. A drum/song may be performed as well.
