In-Class Survey Coming This Quarter

To support the college’s work in using student-centered data to drive decision-making, we are asking students in a random sample of class sections to participate in a survey called the CCSSE this Spring.

The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) is a survey used by colleges across the country to identify areas in which we can develop and refine our practices to better serve YOUR needs.

If your class has been selected for the CCSSE, an administrator from Shoreline’s Student Services team will visit your class to implement the survey sometime between May 12-23. Your instructor will let you know your class’s specific date and time once it’s scheduled. On this date, here’s what you need to do:

  1. If possible, bring a personal electronic device to class (phones will work). If you do not have a personal electronic device, laptops will be available to borrow.
  2. The survey administrator will provide a QR code and/or link to access the survey; you will need to sign in with your CTCLink ID, so make sure you know that number.
  3. Complete the survey fully, thoughtfully and honestly; the survey is confidential, and this is an important way for your perspective to be involved in the college’s decision-making process. From set-up to completion, the survey should take about 25 minutes (give or take).
  4. If you need an accommodation, please let your instructor know. We want to make sure that every student in the selected classes can participate in the survey, because every voice matters! We’ll make the process work for you.

So, what comes next? During the 25-26 school year, be on the lookout for opportunities to participate in a “data deep dive” — a chance for the college community to review and reflect on the results of the survey. This will also be an opportunity to learn about survey trends that Shoreline CC’s leadership has identified as high priorities for the college.

Thank you for your participation in this survey. We are eager to grow and keep students, the life force of our institution, at the center of our practice.
