Maanit Goel began his conservation work in the eighth grade with the Sammamish Youth Board. He has served on the Project Green Schools’ National Youth Council, and is an active leader with the Washington Youth Ocean & River Conservation Alliance and the Washington State Legislative Youth Advisory Council. Maanit has lobbied at the state capital in Olympia and has testified in front of Senate committees on environmental issues such as the restoration of Southern Resident Orca and Chinook Salmon populations. He was recently named one of 100 Rise Global Winners, is one of six annual recipients of the Brower Youth Award for environmental activities, and was honored with a President’s Environmental Youth Award through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
