Dear Campus Community,
I am deeply disturbed by the Trump administration’s recent decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Students in this program are our friends, neighbors, and community leaders, and they deserve an opportunity to learn, grow, and expand their horizons.
Every Shoreline student, staff, and faculty member should be confident that the College is steadfast in our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive place for all students. We are committed to upholding and maintaining a supportive and respectful learning environment for everyone, regardless of documentation status.
I have joined more than 50 of Washington’s college and university presidents who have issued a statement urging Congress to keep our country’s promise to DACA recipients. It is the right thing to do morally and economically. Students should not live in fear of deportation.
We stand by DACA recipients and remain committed to keeping our doors wide open to them, because we know that our quality of life in Washington improves when everyone has access to education.
Respectfully,
Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.
President
