Shoreline is offering a new course for Spring called Introduction to Medical Anthropology and Global Health, ANTH 215. The course is a hybrid M-Th from 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 pm. It is a direct transfer to UW and fulfills a social science credit at Shoreline.
In this class, we examine health, culture, and medicine in the U.S. and around the planet. We explore cultural influences on medicine and healing and study inequalities, factors contributing to wellness and a high quality of life, and how to be agents of our own health. We also do many applied in-class health exercises (meditation, easy yoga, food taste test, senses exercise, etc.) as scientists (i.e. with an open mind and critical perspective).
Medical Anthropology and Global Health is currently one of the most employable areas in anthropology, and in Seattle specifically. In this class we cover “How to Get a Job” in ANY field as well as talk about global health and international work. Please email Susan at sbarclay@shoreline.edu with questions. Thank you!
